Service Description
This 6 week course will cover and build a foundation of handbuilding techniques including coil, pinch, slab, surface design methods & glazing. Students are encouraged to keep a sketchbook for loose conceptualizing. Each week, class will begin with a 20-30 minute demo followed by your own creative exploration with guidance as needed. Special projects are welcome! You'll leave this session with a solid understanding of the full process from initial building to final glazed work and a well-rounded skill set to continue on in your practice. Beginner-friendly, all levels welcome. Teacher Bio: Christina Howard is a Brooklyn based ceramic artist who has been working in clay for over 7 years. Focusing on handbuilding in her practice, she creates contemporary functional forms & figurative sculpture that explore mysticism & antiquity. In class, she encourages a spirit of play, curiosity and experimentation and believes that creativity is a muscle that, with practice, grows stronger over time. Christina graduated from The Ohio State University and has a 10 year design background working in the fashion industry.
