Service Description

5 week intensive intro to handbuilding fundamentals. Don’t have time to commit to an 8 week ceramics class? Sign up for our 5 week crash course in handbuilding! We’ll cover the basics and set you up with a great foundation of handbuilding skills. We’ll meet every Tuesday from 6:30pm-9:00pm to work on fundamental handbuilding techniques like coiling, slab building, and glazing. Open Studio time will be offered on Fridays from 2:00pm-5:00pm to work on your own. All supplies, tools, glazing, and firing is included! This workshop will take place at Bushwick Ceramics, located at 228 Suydam St Brooklyn, NY 11237. Teacher bio: Liam Kelly (they/them) is a queer and trans artist based in Brooklyn and the studio manager at Bushwick Ceramics. Experimenting with shapes and textures, Liam channels their passion for inclusivity and accessibility into their work by continually exploring new avenues to enhance the usability of their creations. As the studio manager at Bushwick Ceramics, they’re known as a walking encyclopedia of ceramic knowledge and technique by students and members alike. Their passion for inclusivity and accessibility carries over in the studio, as they love to help their fellow artists explore new skills and bring their ideas to life. Through their art, they seek to dismantle barriers and foster a sense of belonging, inviting everyone to find joy and utility in the elegant simplicity of well-crafted objects within their homes.
