Monday Evenings Beginner Wheel Throwing
6 Week Beginner Friendly Wheel Throwing with Anny! @ our 698 Hart St Studio.
Service Description
Studio clay, Glazing, Kiln Firing and Tool Usage Included in the Price. Class overview: This 6-week session will be all about the basics of wheel throwing. This class is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! Mondays 6:30pm-9pm From 4/28-6/2 *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. There are no make-ups for missed classes or extra studio time, unless otherwise specified. Cancelations must be before 4/22 to be eligible for a refund. Bio: Anny Chen is an artist who works primarily in ceramics because of clay’s history of function and connection to home. I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in May 2019 with a BFA in Ceramics and a concentration in Graphic Design. After completing a two year residency at Clay Art Center, I’m now an instructor at doclay, and a studio tech at The Potter’s Wheel and Chambers Pottery. Teaching others how to develop a deeper relationship with clay and art has become an integral part of my artistic process. In my classes, I encourage my students to explore their interests and develop their practice in a way that best makes sense to them. @annychenart
