Service Description

All studio clay, tools and firings included in the price This 6 week course will cover and build a foundation of handbuilding techniques including coil, pinch, slab, surface design methods & glazing. Each week, class will begin with a 20-30 minute demo followed by your own creative exploration with guidance as needed. Special projects are welcome and keeping a sketchbook for loose conceptualization is encouraged. You'll leave this session with a solid understanding of the full process from initial building to final glazed work and a well-rounded skill set to continue on in your practice. Beginner-friendly, all levels welcome. 228 Suydam st Saturday Mornings 9/19-10/24 11am-1:30pm *Students can expect to complete approximately 3–4 finished pieces during the course. Please note that for any individual piece measuring 12 inches or more in any direction, additional firing fees will apply: $0.03 per cubic inch for bisque firing and $0.03 per cubic inch for glaze firing, per oversized piece. Classes are focused on learning and skill development—not production. We encourage students to explore techniques thoughtfully and enjoy the creative process. Teacher Bio: Harrison Bruhn is a New York–based artist working primarily in ceramics. His work explores how technology, mythology, cultural memory, and pop culture shape our understanding of power and desire, using hand-built sculpture to examine the space between artifact, fantasy, and machine. Cancelations must be before 9/13 to be eligible for a refund. $25 Cancelation fee. All of our makeup sessions are non-instructed (except the last class - glazing which is instructed) . Unfortunately, it’s not possible for us to fit all makeup students into regularly scheduled instructor-led classes. While we offer makeup sessions as a courtesy for students who miss a class, we can’t guarantee a makeup. 1 Make-up per multi-week session.
