Service Description

Price includes instruction, studio clay, materials, tool usage, glazing and firings. Class overview: This 6-week session will be all about the basics of wheel throwing. This class is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. Sundays 10/18-11/22 10:30am-1pm 228 Suydam St, Brooklyn Bio Anny Chen is an artist who works primarily in ceramics because of clay’s history of function and connection to home. Anny graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in May 2019 with a BFA in Ceramics and a concentration in Graphic Design. After completing a two year residency at Clay Art Center, and is an instructor at Bushwick eramics, doclay, and a studio tech at The Potter’s Wheel and Chambers Pottery. Teaching others how to develop a deeper relationship with clay and art has become an integral part of my artistic process. In my classes, I encourage my students to explore their interests and develop their practice in a way that best makes sense to them. @annychenart Cancelations must be before 10/12 to be eligible for a refund. ($25 cancelation fee). No Cancelations or refunds once the class starts. All of our makeup sessions are non-instructed (except the last class - glazing which is instructed) . Unfortunately, it’s not possible for us to fit all makeup students into regularly scheduled instructor-led classes. While we offer makeup sessions as a courtesy for students who miss a class, we can’t guarantee a makeup. 1 Make-up per multi-week session.
