Studio clay, Glazing, Kiln Firing and Tool Usage Included in the Price. Class overview: This 6-week session will be all about the basics of wheel throwing. This class is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! 228 Suydam St Thursdays 6:30pm-9pm From 1/8-2/12 *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. Cancelations must be before 1/2/2025 to be eligible for a refund. Teacher Bio: Erin is a ceramicist and interdisciplinary artist living in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. She started ceramics in 2021 as a fun summer craft that quickly grew into her primary medium. She loves to experiment with different surface techniques and altering wheel thrown forms. Originally from southern California, Erin’s work is inspired by and often features ocean imagery, angry seagulls, and desert creatures. She holds a B.F.A. from Cornell University and has been an Instructor and Tech at multiple studios around NYC. When she’s not at the wheel Erin also dabbles in printmaking, textiles, and papermaking.
