They have been working with clay for 5 years and hold a B.F.A in Sculpture and Integrated Practices from Pratt Institute, as well as an A.A in Studio Arts. Alex’s personal work explores clay through a lens of labor and sexuality, with a focus on technical skill building and intuitive design. Alex enjoys testing the bounds of ceramic sculpture and encouraging students to do the same. In Alex’s wheel class students will learn the importance of foundational skills and “rules” of ceramics, and by the end feel comfortable bending those rules. It’s all about balance.
